Kya Publishing to Host Urban Fiction Writing Workshop at Toronto Public Library (Malvern)

TORONTO, ONT (December 2017) - Independent publishing company Kya Publishing is scheduled to host an Urban Fiction Writing Workshop on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Toronto Public Library, as a part of their annual Black History Month programming. The workshop, open to teens and adults of all experience levels, will be held at the Malvern Branch (30 Sewells Road) from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Admission is free, and all aspiring writers are welcome to drop in!

The 90-minute workshop, created by Kya Publishing author Kamilah Haywood, and co-facilitated by Stacey Marie Robinson, will provide a seminar-style overview of the genre of Urban Fiction, and the importance of documenting Canadian urban stories. While discussing the inspiration for their Urban Fiction titles, the authors will present examples from Canadian urban music, events, texts, art, and culture.
